Ofsted and Pikauch

Leaders and governors have been successful in establishing a school community in which pupils of different faiths and cultures embrace their differences.

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is a grant given to schools which is additional to main school funding. It is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM). In 2012, funding was extended to include pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any time within the past six years. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. However, schools are to be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support low income families. This information must be published on the school website.

Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.

Sports Premium

The Sports Premium is a grant given to schools which is additional to main school funding. The aim is to ensure

all young people have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation and is central to meeting the government’s ambitions for a world-class education system.

Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.
